Totally enjoyable! I love that Chris included the ONLY piece of classical music that I am very familiar with! LOved the Hawaiian music, Linda. Oh, it brought back memories of the hula-themed stuff in my grandparent’s basement. And T-Bone Walker! I’m in heaven today….

Nat, I actually started to like all those old Hawaiian tunes, the more I listened to them. I wanted, but could not find, Andy Iona’s recording of “I Found A Little Grass Skirt For My Little Grass Shack.” Sounds racy, huh?

Nat,
Your pick made me want to get married again just so I could dance to it. Which made me think - Tim, what did you have for your wedding song??

I really enjoyed this week’s cast. But then I have a fetish about vinyl with all it’s analogue crackly glory and undiscovered treats!

:)

Anna - Aha .. the first dance song. Who would like to take a guess? I’ll give you a clue. It was a collaboration between an old man who sounds like a woman when he sings and someone who plays the trumpet but is know better for playing the bass.

*applauding Anna’s question to Tim*

I wonder if I might guess that the singer is Louis Armstrong?

Nope. Have you been playing your Louis Armstrong LPs at 45rpm again Nat?

;)

does the man have an album called “the source” ?

Yes he does … :)

so… could it be “love will keep us together” by jimmy scott and flea ?

No, Tim, to me, Louis sounds like an old woman when he sings, but I couldn’t figure out the trumpet/bass player!

ZB gets the pride prize for best guesser. Bravo!

It’s a great version of that song … do you guys know it?

Louis sounds like an old woman? I’m going to have to get out those records for another listen!? ;)

Well, he sounds like an old black woman I used to know of. (But Jimmy Scott sounds EXACTLY like a woman, no matter the age!)

I haven’t heard that song, but I will check it out now…it’s intriguing me!

Love will keep us together - I can’t get Captain and Tenille out of my mind now, thanks for that.

Anna .. my pleasure ;)

Nat .. ah, that explains it. All the old black women I know have english accents. :) Do make sure you let me know what you think of the song when you hear it.

This was excellent, i put this on before going to work the other day. It was all cold and dark outside but made me feel all warm and glowy.

I loved that Jimmy Liggins and i like your flipping coin idea Tim !!! Elvis can do no wrong !!!!

Good stuff, big love to all contrast people….i am very hung over today Rx

i just got done listening and now i wish i’d participated! : )

it was very enjoyable, thanks everyone. it kept me company while i cleaned my kitchen.

Excellent, one the best so far and congrats to everyone who contributed! PS Fil are sure that was Gracie fields and not Cerys Matthews ;-)
