079 Infidelity

Cheat to a beat.

Sid from Too Much Rock has recently been on the rough end of some infidelity and thought that a podcast full of cheating tunes might clear out the hurt. The CP is always happy to help, but as you might expect there is some strong language in this one!

Wow, a whole Contrast Podcast episode for (about?) me!

Jilted John! Now why didn’t I think of that one??? Nyah nyah, it’s not fair!!

I’m looking forward to my 50 minutes of infidelity (ooer, fnarr fnarr)!!

Believe it or not, Fil: my mail to Tim basically said ‘quick, quick … before Fil sends in Jilted John’ … ha ha …

All the best, mate!

Fil - you beat me to Jolene - who would have thought there would be such a high demand for Dolly Parton. When I listen to that song I always think Dolly should dump her loser bloke and hook up with Jolene herself.

Hey Sid…hope this podcast has been helpful listening…damn that track was long and super intense.

Nat - i love Juliana Hatfield..long time fan

shhhhh….Tim…i bought a salad cd the other day from oxfam !!!

That Richard cheese is an interesting version. Tim - nice singing !!!

aagghhhh, not Nat, i mean linda oops (although dark of the street is great)

mark–i LOVE that song, haven’t heard it in ages. ross–you are too fucking funny! zb–great track, never heard it before. and of course, infidel that i am, i think that richard cheese cover might be the definitive version of rock the casbah.

i have that same picture hanging in my youngest daughter’s room.

and i think tim should sing more often! : )

LOL Ross, mixin’ up the wimmin folk around here? ;)

I love the Hatfield song, too, and I wanted to pick Jolene, too, but I just figured it would be taken, so I went with Dark End Of THe Street. And Tim SHOULD sing more often, marcy; I’m with you on that one!

Katherine .. about you … more info please!?

FiL … you didn’t think about Graham Fellowes because you were too busy thinking about Dolly’s … erm … assets. Don’t deny it.

Dirk … your choices so far for the CP have been faultless, even if FiL would have picked them too! ;)

Anna ..it was a pity that FiL got to Dolly first because I would have liked to have heard the southern hemisphere opinion on someone with such ample hemis… OK I’ll stop before I dig myself into an even deeper hole.

Ross. Salad rocked. I saw them live a couple of times and really enjoyed it … but that was back in the day. Sigh. Thanks for liking the singing. I only did it because nobody picked IHITTG!! (Surely the ultimate infidelity song??)

Marcy. Are you teaching your daughter how life is going to treat her with the picture! :) … and thanks for commenting on the singing … I’m considering another ’sung intros’ episode when I think of a theme to go with it. Any ideas?

Nat … you want me to sing more too. Don’t tempt me .. I might do it every week!!! :)

I thought last week’s episode was one of the best, but I think this week’s might be just as good if not better. Thanks everyone! :)

I did think of:
The darling Buds - Shame on You
Lush - Hypocrite
Eat - Shame on you

it might be fun to do a karaoke-themed podcast with folks singing. : )

Or a spoken word songs podcast with sung intros. Lots of kevin rowland potential there.

I love juliana hatfield too, ever since hearing her on the Reality Bites soundtrack.

Dearest Crash, back in the mists of time there was a sung intro podcast, and it was good. Nay, great. So I second that emotion!!

Dearest Tim, Dolly’s best assets are her voice and her “hair.” Keep the rest, Mr Letch…

Dear Anna, now there’s a thought! Methinks you’re spot on. And apologies for stealing your song… :(

Dear Dirk, you’re living proof that the early bird gets the… er… um… song. Or something. And again, a faaaaabulous choice!!

Ah yes, feeling much better. Sorry for the uber long and intense opener, but hey, rage shouldn’t be kept bottled up.

Mr Thrub … you are only fooling yourself. I know what you are thinking. One mention of Dolly and your hands immediately start rubbing the fronts of your thighs. Don\’t deny it. Love, Mr Letch.

Bravo ZB (as ever) - I thought no-one else had heard of the Triffids.

Stand out track though - James Carr. Unquestionably the definitive version.

I missed my chance to offer Shellac’s Prayer to God. Also Presley’s His Latest Flame. The list goes on.

So we’re two (this up under side of Earth I mean) and some time, under the big Domino effect, I hope, we’ll be more.
It seems “Day of Triffids, Long night of David McComb”, Bleddyn Butcher’s book publication will take place on 2008 spring. (”Love of Will”, the solo effort from David McComb gets an high “find it, buy it” recommendation from me)
