Great CP, especially to one as Limerick-impaired as me! Perhaps we could try Haiku next, although didn’t someone slip one it here??
Anna, loved the LenLow/Mercedes/Beck, a great combo of hick and hip.
And wrapping up with The Leaves of Life was almost like a recessional - I feel like a better person…
Cheers,
Rick

Crash wins the poetry contest hands down (touching and in perfect form, wow!), but props to Nat for telling the Beatles story in 5 lines or less. It’s fun to see what people pick when they have no restrictions. Still contrasty! I was a bit afraid of a narrow little indiefest, but it turns out that’s a big tent.

Damn, Crash, you’re going to make me cry with that one.
And thanks, Greg.

I really was her boyfriend when we were 15, and she’s getting married on saturday. And that’s all i have to add.

great job everyone, bravo! and some choice tunes to go with once again. i especially loved say hi and lush, but there wasn’t a bad song to be had.
great to hear from alex from waaaaay down under. : )
it’s probably just me, but any time i hear “tequila!” these days i think of pee-wee herman. :0

Thanks everyone. I’ve listened to this episode several times now and it’s still good every time … I’m worried about Crash though … Crash, I hope you won’t be crying into a beer at the reception (if you are invited) gently humming ‘it should have been me’ under your breath??
… and it is good to hear Alex from SSaSS again. He told me that it’s just warmed up to -10 so he can now go out and see the penguins .. blimey!
… and Marcy … nope … Tequila makes me think of throwing up … but then so does PeeWee.
:)

YESSSS!!! This CP really was awesome throughout … the only thing that made me worry is that the mighty Fil was missing this time …
By Dirk on 10.25.07 9:50 am
well, the throwing up part is a given!

i really liked the patti smith song, but I agree. everyone was spot on.
as for FiL’s abscence, it’s not surprising that they don’t allow transmissions (especially of limericks!) from Muzakistan!
By James! on 10.25.07 2:19 pm
I was thinking as I was listening this week there was a distinct lack of dirty limericks. Thanks for coming through with one Deek:) Great show
By Anna on 10.26.07 1:46 am
Out it check. I get it now! I listened to this about 10 times before I took Anna’s closing line syllable by syllable instead of trying to figure out what kechtitow was!
By Greg on 10.26.07 8:40 pm
… for me it took eight times, Greg … don’t you worry *smile* …
By Dirk on 10.27.07 7:41 am
Rest assured that FiL is being treated exactly according to the “Debbie Gibson Code for Handling Godless, Musically Delinquent Enemies of Wholesomeness.” He has asked me to tell you that he is growing rather fond of Muzakistani weevil stew. However, he is proving rather hard to deprogram…

There is a story that towards the end of the second world war it was felt that, as an attempt to boost civilian morale, a competition should be held to find the funniest limerick in the world. The competition took place and a winner was chosen but it was explained that the winning entry was so very very rude that it couldn’t be published. The nation weren’t happy - surely the point was to cheer people up and give them something else to think about, they were grown up enough to go to war so they were grown up enough to hear the limerick. A compromise was reached - the limerick would be read on the radio by Prime Minister Winston Churchill, to give it some gravitas and stop the snickering, but where it was simply too rude he would ‘bleep’ out the words himself. The day finally came and Churchill read…
Du da du du da du du da
Du da du du da du du da

Du da du du da
Du da du du da fucking cunt.

That’s an awesome story, Crash. Do you think that story’s true? Can an audio clip of it be found?
By James! on 10.29.07 1:45 pm
Hmm, Crash, do you suppose that’s where The Police got the idea for De Do Do Do, De Da Da Da?
That’s all I want to say to you.
;)
By nat on 10.29.07 2:01 pm
It probably was where The Police got the idea from, after all Sting is a… nah, too easy.
