Cheers everyone – nice selections. Tim, good man. You even played the correct version – the mono version! Hard to track down, that, by all accounts, so cheers!

So many great choices! What fun!
Dirk: Thanks for turning me on to The Richies – – and yes, quite right, every country does need their own Ramones.
Vinyl Villain: Hope you’re feeling better!

Agnes….you’ve got to make a trip up to Scotland to make such a journey worthwhile!

Belated happy birthday Marcy. You’re still a young person.

Dirk. Even our wives seem to have common attributes…….and what was on your filthy mind that you got 69 and 96 mixed up????

And finally….FiL, that number you dialled has seemingly been disconnected. I just tried. I was calling Fifi to see if ‘she’ would take part in a forthcoming TV documentary a ‘friend’ of mine is making about transvestites.

(Now if those last two comments dont make casual passers-by want to come on in….I dont know what will).

The Nerves, followed by The Jam. My day is MADE!

Hey JC, there were answering machines back in the late 70’s, but only the rich kids had them! Most days, I wish I didn’t have one now.

The Bobby Vee is ca-RAZY, man!

Marcy, the phone memories…ahh..our family’s cord was always twisted and knotted, and I used to stretch it clear out and up a flight of steps to get some “privacy” when I talked.

And, oh, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!

Thank you all. 120 minutes of bliss not interrupted by the phone! Marcy, loved Frou Frou with its dreamy Eno sample and Chris, well done for smuggling ‘Telephone Thing’ under the radar in your intro. That probably would have been my choice.

Ross, that Love cut was sublime.

nat–i used to do the same thing with the phone, only i’d go down into the basement as far as i could go!

jc–if you say so!

shaun–shows you what i know–i didn’t even realize there was an eno sample in the song.

agnes–i don’t think you could have picked a more perfect song for your situation.

i loved the whole thing this week (as usual!). and thanks so much for the birthday wishes. i ended up having a really good day, which is unusual for me on my birthday! :0

Happy 100th submission, FiL!

And to ZB, happy 106th submission! I’m sorry I wasn’t tracking this data 6 episodes ago.

This was an episode that benefitted from a second listen. I particularly liked The Waifs.

oh my god ! maybe s’time to take a nap…

hey james, can you examine your data and tell us who has been the most frequent contributor to the podcast since its inception? aside from tim, of course!

LOL, is there a prize?

i dunno, should there be? i’m just curious. : )

my first podcast was #28 and this is #128–that i cannot believe! now, i’ve not been in them all, but wow, that’s a lot of podcasts.

100? Goodness, I feel old…

“Let me tell you, you spoiled rotten kids, when I was a lad it took me three days to upload a submission on 24k dialup…”

*Plucks nose hairs, farts without shame*

hee hee

*farts without shame* the true harbinger of old age!!

mr. fil, you are too much!

marcy – the undisputed highest contributor is our friend ZB.

i may be in error on my count for fil, though. tim seems to have come up with 101 submissions as of episode 128. impressive nonetheless!

All hail the mighty ZB!!

Ahh another great podcast guys! Loved the first track. Serge and Jane, you rock!
JC – I don’t care how sick you are, Scottish accents are wonderful. You sounded just fine to me! And yes, I have big plans to visit Scotland, don’t you worry. Loved The Jam track too.
Fil – great choice. The track that is! Loved it.
Marcy – thanks! I loved the Frou Frou track, wonderful choice. I too enjoy the feeling of not being contactable!
James – glad you liked The Waifs. They’re one of my faves. They’re actually based in the US now, think they do heaps of touring over there.
Looking forward to next week – this whole podcast thing…it’s kinda addictive!

thanks for figuring that out, james. zb rules!

agnes–the contrast podcast should be illegal it’s so addictive! 😉

tim has 101 contributions the CP? Why, you’d think he had an inside track or something.

😉

Well .. actually I’m third after ZB and FiL with only 97 submissions … how did that happen!

🙂

yes yes. i often mix up tim and FiL. i think it’s the three letter name with a lower-case i in the middle. 🙂

I think that Tim and FiL will be secretly delighted that someone occasionally mixes them up….

But isnt it the case that Tim has made CP contributions under other names (I cant spell the word soodinum…..)??

And if you add Letch & Thrub to Tim & FiL, then will that not give them the most in terms of numbers??

And remember, before he was Adam….Adam was Crash.

Oh and ZB…..I reckon you’ve just come up with a future theme….Sleep.

Ciao

oh trust me, JC. We’ve seen right through FiL and Tim’s various disguises and counted them. and we’ve gotten adam’s previous persona, as well. still zb has the most. can you believe it?

i would do a sleepcast.

…and then he was a bit of a car-crash.

ka-boom tisch.

I will put my hands up and admit that I never knew blondie’s hanging on the telephone was a cover. That Love song is wonderful, you simply can’t go wrong with Mary Wells and I realised that I haven’t listened to the Fun Boy Three for years. Lovely stuff.

I thought it might be fun to share the current data sheet with any of you that are interested … after all, it’s all here on the site, it’s just not as easy to sort or search … so fill your geeky boots!

http://www.contrastpodcast.com/cp/080913contrastdata.xls

that’s one great playlist.

James, that’s impressive, man! Alas row ‘E’ (the titles of the tracks) is faded out …. and to J.C.: the beginning of the Richies track was on my filthy mind, where the girl goes “Mmmhaaah … ich liebe Dich so!” … as you can tell I’m easily aroused in my age …

All the best,

Dirk
