Thanks Marcy .. although most of the credit should go to Mrs Tim!
:)

yes, of course! you’re a team. : )
By mjrc on 09.24.08 11:37 am
Might I add my kudos to the cover opening. And now, on to the music! (and I also dig the photo you chose, Tim.)
By nat on 09.24.08 1:46 pm
Did anyone else think “I SAID DON’T WANNA FALL IN LOVE!!! PLEEEEEEEASE!!!” during that one part of Dirk’s song?(which i loved, by the way)
By James! on 09.24.08 1:46 pm
I thought that was Mrs. Tim! A fabulous kick-off to one of the best CPs I’ve heard yet. (And that’s saying something - what exactly, I’m not sure…) The Chris Isaac cover was brilliant, Annie Lennox’s covers are some of my favorites, “you’re the one that I want” had me mesmerized, and I haven’t even gotten to the end yet. Sweet.

i loved dirk’s song, too, the way she kept raising her voice in the background as she got more and more worked up.
and that version of “jump” is one of my all-time favorite covers.
By mjrc on 09.25.08 3:40 pm
I agree with all the above, plus I loved Anna’s song and the Waiting In Vain cover.
All this and Roddy too
. Yet another fantastic podcast.

My god, I’m sandwiched by the Eurythmics and I have to say that I hate the Eurythmics but this, well, this experience is rather nice. I really really like that Marilyn Manson version, I even like Annie Lennox for once!
By adam on 09.26.08 5:10 am
well, i’m glad that so many people liked my choice, personally i found Roddy’s version of ‘Jump’ extremely awesome. Also a big hug to John Q.: finally i have a decent version of one of my all time favourites, up until now i only had it on a very old tape of John Peel’s Music from BFBS … the sound quality was especially poor, as you might imagine.
By Dirk on 09.26.08 7:56 am
Anna, loved that one, and that opening riff is unmistakable, is it not?
I, too, must jump on the “Jump” bandwagon. That is simply fabulous.
By nat on 09.26.08 2:29 pm
Please don’t jump on the “Jump” bandwagon. The rocking disturbs the horses. Please remain seated, softly banging your head.
By James! on 09.26.08 2:42 pm
There’s a whole host of other crazy covers by the Galactics. I’d be happy to send you a copy of what I’ve got if you want Dirk. Yet another classic podcast - thanks to everyone for these!

Clever boy Timothy…..and a tremendous contribution from Anna to open the show as well.
Those accents in the Funky String Band song are ridiculous!!!. Everyone I know from Edinburgh speaks like Matthew from Song, By Toad…well sort of.
Tricia…..that is one helluva admission about the LPs in your collection. Most other folk would have put them in the charity shop by now.
Dirk..that was captivating in a wholly unexpected way.
Love Aztec Camera. But just can’t bring myself to like this cover I’m afraid….the idea of Roddy listening to the awfulness of Van Halen is too much to contemplate. Also probably cos the version I got to know was the 12″ with 3 minutes of ‘cock-rock’ tagged on at the end. (Best intro you’ve ever done tho’ mate!!)
The YMCA cover has divided the five people in Villain Towers currently listening. My proposal that it is a work of genius is not being seconded….
That’s also the first song by Cat Power that has held my attention for more than 90 seconds….
And what an ending….I’m on tenderhooks!!!

Cheers JC, I thought it was time to let people hear the real me.
By adam on 09.27.08 2:55 pm
Thanks John, Time has already provided me with the file … cheers, mate!
By Dirk on 09.27.08 5:01 pm
JC, I’m sure you meant the “awesomeness” of Van Halen!
By nat on 09.28.08 3:17 am
Oh yeah….sure.
By jc on 09.28.08 9:39 am
It’s just that I’m not ashamed to fly my Van Halen flag now and again, for everything up to and including the “1984″ album. These days, that band is not even a blip on my radar screen.
By nat on 09.28.08 4:27 pm
Tim and Team,
In my humble opinion, these have been your two finest podcasts. Well covered!

Top stuff as usual - I’ll admit I was expecting some cod-reggae monstrosity from Annie Lennox’s Marley cover but was pleasantly suprised. And the YMCA cover was utterly brilliant. If you can stomach any more, I’ve a whole collection of covers of (I Can’t Get No Satisfaction) on my very occasional Phosphorous podcast.
By Chris on 09.29.08 1:12 pm
Late to the party as usual, but wanted to add my compliments to all for a fun and varied mix of music. Was almost done in by Ebony and Ivory…the original is hard enough to stomach.
Mr. Tricia (a non-music person to say the least) had a rare listen to the podcast with me and was impessed by just how different the songs were. We really enjoyed it.
By Tricia on 09.30.08 3:36 pm
That’s crazy that you married someone with your exact name, Tricia! Small world, huh?
By James! on 09.30.08 6:46 pm
Wicked small, James. And you have a wicked good sense of humor. (typing this, Tricia remains seated, softly banging head)
