138 The heart

Woah! I’m having palpitations already…
Dearest Linda, Rae Spoon is grrreat! He’s got a wonderful voice. I saw him perform at the 2007 Vancouver Folk Music Fest with Rodney Decroo. Their joint album, Trucker’s Memorial, is lovely.

I will have to look for that collaboration, FiL. Thanks for the tip!

I thought this episode was so soothing! Well done CP nation!
I especially liked the 101′ers, Teitur, and Physics of Meaning songs!
By James! on 11.19.08 5:28 pm
JC, have a lovely holiday and just forget your troubles!
By nat on 11.19.08 6:52 pm
Dirk, I have no idea which body part you’re referring to.
Penis songs are just so, well, flaccid.
Tim, PLEEEEEEASE can you skip the genitals?
By nat on 11.19.08 7:08 pm
Oops, Tim, sorry if my last comment offended!
Anyway, Dirk, the 101′ers rocked! Loved hearing that.
Everyone: I loved the intros this week and your insights into the heart of all of us.
By nat on 11.19.08 7:26 pm
another keeper!
loved the malcolm middleton, glasvegas, my name is nobody and zappa and zevon.
agnes, that is my absolute favorite teitur song and i cried like a baby hearing it today. i saw him back in the spring and when he sings he has a more lighthearted way about him, a smile in his voice that comes across on his recordings but is much more evident live. if you ever get a chance to see him, i highly recommend it. he’s very charming, too.
so sorry that uri took fil prisoner again! mentok, how could you bail on him like that?
and tim, had i known of that peter sellers/sophia loren song, i could have played it for my doctor when my heart was palpitating and it would have explained it perfectly!

My faves were Malcom, Glasvegas and the Lemonheads - top choices!
Marcy I remember you writing about Teitur before on your blog so I thought you might enjoy that track! I just love it. Sorry it made you cry though. I was checking out Teitur’s tour dates and he’s not coming out here any time soon. Might have to catch him when I’m overseas instead!
Great job everybody…looking forward to next week.

Tim - your track was brilliant, i was running for the district line this morning with that song and after jumping on the train i held the door open for everyone, then that song made me laugh all the way to the next stop !
Malcolm Middleton is a tortured soul, so much truth in alot of his songs, without sounding shite…as he’d put it.
Chris, your intro was amusing..especially your boss thing, really enjoyed frank zappa and why didn’t i think of that ace track by the futureheads !!! And Marcy i loved The Physics of Meaning, never heard of them, but tanks !!
Good work everyone !!
The cpers have BIG hearts !!!

Nat - Nope, it didn’t offend … for some reason my spam filter thought that I might need to take a look at it before it was published. I honestly can’t think why.
Ross - Oh man … I had the 7″ of that song when I was little and a bit like the Donovan I played on the ‘My Parents Music’ episode, I knew every word. The shame. Still, despite all it’s political incorrectness I still think it’s sweet at heart. After all, I could easily be Peter … and to see a boy like that with a girl like Sophia … well.
Everyone else … if you haven’t voted yet … why not!? The festive fifty needs you!

Boy, that was neat indeed … especially Futureheads, Go Go’s, Thrushes and Rae Spoon rocked for me … Tim’s choice made my boring drive to work enjoyable yesterday and that Malcolm Middleton tune was just ace: thanks J.C., also for the fine topic!
By Dirk on 11.21.08 5:57 pm
I loved the Sellers/Loren (so wacky), The Physics of Meaning and Everything But The Girl. Very confused about the Rae Spoon song title and continue to enjoy living vicariously through FiL’s adventures.
James, I just might have to add that Glasvegas tune to my Christmas mix.
Dearest JC, hugs and wishes for your PC to behave itself. Having recently almost had an iTunes evaporation, I thoroughly empathize with anyone who has a close call with losing their precious digital music collection.

Personally, I was thinking of reassembling mine from scratch. I have too much music here that I know will never be listened to. It’s a big decision to make though.
By Eiron Page on 11.25.08 3:21 pm
my son is always telling me that i should delete the music i never listen to, that it takes up too much space on the hard drive. i always adamantly refuse, saying, i need each and every song for blogging purposes! you never know when a song will be just right for a post or, perhaps even more importantly, the contrast podcast!
so that’s my motto–never delete!
By mjrc on 11.25.08 4:01 pm
It’s not really a matter of it taking up too much space. It’s more a matter of my changing tastes. I feel like it’s more of a music archive than a music library sometimes.
By Eiron Page on 11.25.08 4:49 pm
well, i’m a saver, what can i say. it’s hard for me to throw anything away because i think–what if i need that some day? : )
By mjrc on 11.25.08 6:32 pm
Ah the packrat motto “What if I need that somday?”
Glad to know there’s more than one lurking around the CP.
Tricia - So I’m not crazy? It does sound Christmas-y? It may just be a coincidence though…
By James! on 11.25.08 8:07 pm
Great idea JC! I am loving these picks
By rachel on 11.25.08 8:48 pm
Tim-I just got around today to checking on that photo. Wow! Holy hearts! What was strangest to me were the comments on the page.
By Tricia on 11.26.08 12:51 am
Tricia - I know … an amazing story and some really odd comments. Isn’t the world great sometimes??
By tim.young on 11.26.08 10:47 am
Nat…..I thought of Raspberry Beret by Hindu Love Gods…..
