The Wedding Present only at 50?? Even after I gave it a spot on the best of 2008 (so far) Contrast Podcast? Ah well. Impressive start to the list all the same–can’t wait to see what the other episodes will bring.

It’s the most wonderful time of the year…
By Rick on 12.18.08 10:06 pm
I’ll enjoy some spiked eggnog, but mince pies are icky. A nice mixed berry or pecan pie would be nice.
I am looking forward to listening to this on a quiet evening over the weekend!

Glad you are feeling better Tim!
FiL… You crack me up!
By Rachel on 12.19.08 7:29 am
Yeah Jim, I was astonished too about the Wedding Present: I thought they’d chart way higher than # 50. Only got up to # 44 this morning in the car, but the 7 intros and songs I heard so far were perfect! Can’t wait to hear the other ones on me way back home this afternoon. And Tim: glad to hear you’re back to form!

Great job everybody! Special shout out to you JC for your wonderful intro, loved it.
I have a notepad documet called ‘research’ that I keep adding bands to that I still haven’t gotten around to checking out yet. I just added Young Knives and British Sea Power.
I love you, CP.

i don’t think this could have been more contrasty if tim had designed it that way. really wonderful stuff.
i echo what agnes says. for me, the best thing about the festive fifty is that it’s “forced” me to listen to some stuff i’d passed over. but now that i’ve heard some of them, i’m definitely going to pay more attention.
i can’t wait for the next two episodes.

yeah, i listened to it last night and then just let it repeat.
there were oldies and newies and i’m just so stoked for the rest of the list!
yippee!

I’ve now contracted the virus myself. Ouch.

Hey guys,
just want to send some love to you guys - I’ve been absent for a while, computer issues and getting ready to have a baby have really put a dent in my podcast and blogging traffic - not only a dent but a full stop. Anyway still listen and love the show and wanted to send some holiday love to all you CPers.
Take care
Anna (the Aussie one)

Now THAT’S great Christmas - news, Anna!! Can there be better ones?
All the very best,
By Dirk on 12.20.08 7:57 am
Do you carry it around in a pouch???
By jc on 12.20.08 12:38 pm
i’d been wondering where you were, anna. congrats!!!
is it your first?
By mjrc on 12.20.08 10:20 pm
Great stuff - quite a lot of artistes I’d not heard of, and people I didn’t know were still around or at least had records out this year.
My own ‘best of 08′ comp is here and you might be pleased to know it doesn’t have me talking on it, just top tunes neatly segued together. My tips for next year: Little Boots’s debut album will be huge, and the Noisettes are back with some new tracks which hopefully their (major) record label won’t fuck up too much.
Those of you with various forms of lurgi, I hope you’re better soon. There’s nothing worse than being ill when you’re supposed to be having a good time.
And a merry solstice to all!

Finally listened to this this morning….and it aint half bad if you want my humble opinion.
My only worry is that six of my suggestions have appeared already in the nether regions of the chart….please tell me we didnt somehow all vote for X Factor pish?
By jc on 12.21.08 12:43 pm
This was so great.
Chris- I hadn’t heard any of the M83 album but I absolutely loved Kim & Jessie and I checked out You Appearing too and liked that a lot… so hopefully Santa puts an iTunes gift certificate in my stocking!
I loved your intro, JC,
Tim & Eiron- hope you are both feeling better.
Anna! I’m so happy for you, congratulations and good luck!

What great music and intros!
Hadn’t heard the HMHB…”I’m gonna feed our children non-organic food and with the money saved take ‘em to the zoo.” Oh..how fab is that lyric?
Congrats Anna!!!! Wonderful news!
By Tricia on 12.23.08 12:57 am
I think the HMHB lyric ‘Not long now before lollypop men are called Darren’ is even funnier…
