Brilliant tactic of getting the Acid Tongue kid himself to introduce Jenny Lewis….magnifcent way to begin.

There’s loads of stuff in this ‘cast that I’ve only learned about it recent week/months – e.g. Devotchka, Airborne Toxic Event and Hello Saferide – and that I’ve fallen in love with.

Welcome Paul. Hope its the first of many contributions.

And what about that great new band called The Fall?? I predict big things for them, but only if they stick together as a unit and the drummer/bassist/guitarist dont all have disagreements with the singer….

Dirk…I did enjoy. Song and intro alike.

Oh and I meant to say Elspeth, I’m with you….Frightened Rabbit songs should have been Nos 1-10 inclusive 🙂

Great work all round. Looking forward to the Top 17..

Great work everyone! 🙂

Thanks JC! Could have easily gone with all FR songs for sure. Great podcast however!

ZB, you’re still quite far from 50! (I’m already there, and guess what? You can still rock after 50, and hopefully, rock better than Mick Jagger.)

Way to stick it to him, TWoTH!

I enjoyed this and i’ve just finished the first run through it. I’m going to listen to it again immediately.

You know, Frightened Rabbit is a grand new discovery that I’m excited to learn more about in the next couple of weeks.

Tim, I had no idea you were doing a TMBG parody for the beginning of the Days of the Week CP. Well done!

Great job all around!

Just wanted to add a Happy Christmas to all of you who observe it! And to everyone who doesn’t I wish you joy and happiness anyway!

Nat! This episode marks your 100th submission! And you’re the first and (so far) only woman to achieve that! And you’re only one of four people in the whole CP Nation to achieve that!

Three cheers for Nat!

i sorta feel like i haven’t been doing a very good job in my blog of talking about bands i love, seeing as devotchka has been one of the bands i’ve loved the most this year and dear jc is just now discovering them!! their album is my number one for 2008.

rachel–great to hear your voice!

stuart–that elbow song is superb. i’ve kind of overlooked their album and now i think i must get it.

james–frightened rabbit is freaking awesome! i think the reason they’re not showing up higher in the list (so far) is because of all the bands in the final 100 songs that we got to vote on, they had the most represented. seven, i think, from “the midnight organ fight.” so the vote has been split many ways. that’s my theory, anyway. you’re the statistician–maybe you can verify that for me later.

about that acid tongue song–i don’t care much for jenny lewis (maybe coz i’m not a guy?) but i always thought that song was about saying something mean or nasty, not actually about dropping acid! that made me listen a little more closely to the words. 😉

great segment, can’t wait for next week. actually, i’ve been trying to figure out who’ll be in it . . .

I’m hoping for at least ONE Hold Steady song, since that album got me through rough times this year.

Wow, thanks James. I had no idea!!

Nat – Yeah I totally agree about the Hold Steady. I think we’ll be hearing about getting hammered on Tuesday. That’s my guess.

MJRC – Yeah, there WERE a lot of Frightened Rabbit songs on that shortlist, weren’t there? I should have known I would be impressed. 🙂

Absolutely loved this episode! Mainly I guess because it contained a pile of my favourites – FR, Sometime Around Midnight, Anna, Ida Maria and DeVotchKa. I don’t mind VW either so it was great to hear them too.

I totally fell in love with ‘Frankie’s Gun’ as well, which I’d heard about but not checked out until now. It’s been copping a bit of a flogging these past few days. Awesome track. Can’t stand ‘Acid Tongue’ though, had to fast forward through that one, but I did appreciate Matthew’s intro.

And Marcy, it was you who got me into DeVotchKa and I remember your gig review being pretty awesome too, so you can count me on your list of DeVotchKa converts!

Bring on the rest, I say!

I loved the intro to The Fall song, but that is one out there tune. How did I miss it this year?

Congrats, Nat! Here’s to 100 more.

And, Marcy, divine DeVotchKa must have at least one or two more in the top 17. I really love that album, too.

belated congrats to Nat. another handful of intros and you’ll be matching your age ;_)

Right! Now where did I put my teeth?
