I am aware the flesh is actually the muscle and fat between the skin and the bone. So, probably I should have skipped this track and gone on to the next one in the system (I’m not on my usual computer so couldn’t tell you what that might have been). But I’m not sure we’ve had much in the way of traditional Middle Eastern music, so felt drawn to cheating a little on this occasion. Plus, it allowed me to rant off-topic (though I’m not sure much is ever likely to stop me), so I’m content, as far as I’m ever likely to be about anything.

Never before have I been as creeped out by the episode photo as I am by that one. EEEEEiiiiiiiyyyyyeeeeee.

I prolly would have went with “Skin For Canoes” by Skinner Pilot or maybe “Skin Drips” by Scratch Acid. Glad to see “Bulldog Skin” in there. I love that song.

I came up to right until the end of Kevin’s contribution (Hello Kevin: welcome in CP-Land, by the way!) this morning in the car on me way to work. Two things are remarkable:

1) bloody hell: 26 mins 50 secs show that I’m damn fast driver!!

2) priceless stuff: I liked every single song so far!

Cheers,

Welcome Kevin! It’s always great to hear new voices! And

Congrats Greer on making the leap to jeans! (Perhaps one day, my band that doesn’t exist yet, 80-d, will release an album called “Leap to Jeans”. If we do, I’ll thank you in the liner notes!)

This podcast had a little of everything, didn’t it!

Wow. Look at that. A really accurate welcome for Kevin. I started to say something else and then, I….didn’t. So, I think what I wanted to say was that Isabella is adorable and I hope we haven’t heard the last of her!

wonderful ‘cast this week! Marcy I loved your song so much. And it’s been far too long since I’ve listened to the Donnas. JC, Lloyd Cole is pure genius, glad you and I agree on yet another artist; it’s uncanny actually, xoxo Welcome Kevin! Your song was gorgeous :) Nat, I had forgotten all about that song, thanks, brilliant! But FiL… your intro made me feel kinda dirty… do it again! xoxo

Alright, based on Tim’s link, I’m going to count Bird towards The Chameleons. Yes? or No? Do we want his solo work to count seperately in the tally?

Great first post Kevin
Loved the Grand Drive offering

this was a good one all around! i loved your pick, tim. i wouldn’t have called it obvious, though. and thanks for the intro music . . . :)

greer–the weirdest thing about going back to normal clothes is that you have to remember to unbutton them–those elasticized waist pants have got ease-of-use going for them!

hey, i’ve noticed that zb hasn’t been playing lately–anybody know why?

I’ve noticed that too! Can we get Yuri to send out the Tesla Girls to investigate?

Welcome Kevin! Looks like you have the same sort of blog that I do. Loved your song.

Linda, I really liked the Blind Melon–creepy, but so good.

John, as always a fantastic pick. Hadn’t heard that one before, but liked it from the get go.

Also really enjoyed The Wannadies, Lloyd Cole, Oingo Boingo (I like just saying their name), Cloud Cult and The Stooges…Aw heck…I loved the whole podcast!!

Congrats Greer! Having gone through the leap to jeans four times I know the feeling. Oh what a feeling!

Jim and James, what fantastic intros. Had me smiling. Yours, FiL, did too. That place between uneasy chuckling and full out laughter.

yes, kevin, welcome!! :)

I tried leaving a comment round ZB’s way a week or so ago but I don’t think it worked… it’s not the same without him.

Welcome Kevin!! Great pick.

Marcy, you made me laugh. I think any time lost zipping and buttoning is more than made up for by how much easier it is to put on shoes. I’m in awe of you and Tricia!

Great ‘cast, as usual.

marcy, you’ll have an answer in 165’s theme

you’ve been asleep all this time?? ;-)

Linda - I interviewed Shannon Hoon a year before the first Blind Melon CD came out. We got on the topic of serial killers and I mentioned that I had just read a book called “The Deviant” about Ed Gein who used to skin his victims and wear their skin. I met Shannon in person shortly thereafter and gave him my copy of the book. Did I help inspire that song? Unfortunately, Shannon died before I got to ask him. Here’s the audio clip from that interview which may or may not have helped inspire him to write “Skinned”.
