165 Sleep

Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

Apparently you spend around a third of your life asleep, so it isn’t a surprise that Chris from Phosphorous.net proposed that we should make a snoozetastic podcast on the subject. How dreamy!

Thanks to all of you for tucking yourselves in and dozing off. Next week we will be having a fantastic feline fiesta with the fuzzy theme of Cats and kittens. If you would like to play a track but aren’t sure where to start, you’ll find a little bit of help hiding over here.

I’ m writing in low voice as it seems everyone’s sleeping…

No comments yet? Is everyone still slumbering??

:) I was just thinking the same thing!

I really enjoyed this podcast, especially your song FiL! Sleep IS the enemy!

I liked the whole thing and I especially liked the contrast on this one. It wasn’t all sleepy music! :)

If only. I’ve had to drive 250 miles and put in an afternoon’s work in a tiny overheated edit room today, so I’ve only just listened to it.

Thanks Tim for picking one of my theme ideas and thanks everyone for contributing! Great stuff as usual, I especially enjoyed the old Dave Bowie song and the Ray Davies song sung by Marion (wasn’t there an also-ran britpop band called Marion?)

Chris- Good call on that Marion/Marion thing. It turns out that Jamie played the band Marion wayyyy back in the “What?” episode! Which, as it turns out, was the VERY FIRST CP episode I ever heard!

I love that there were two Cher references in this one :) .

I loved this as much as I love to sleep (sorry James). Especially enjoyed Nina’s Sandman, Songwriting For Dummies and I Go To Sleep. Prefab Sprout was so catchy (whoa whoa) and I really liked the song by The Men They Couldn’t Hang.

Hands down, though, my favorite was your pick, James. Wow. That really caught my attention.

Tricia: If you liked the track, be sure to check out the website, where that song and others like it are freely available.

This, for one reason or another, is the first one I’ve been able to sit and listen to on time and in one session for simply ages. As always I love the explanations for the songs as much as the songs themeselves but there are some great things here - particularly enjoyed Minutemen, Kevin Russel and the prefabs. Story - the one and only time I had a ticket to see The Kinks the show was cancelled just beforehand when Chrissy Hinde dumped Ray Davies and ran off with Jim Kerr. I think, that was the story we told each other at the time, anyway.

it took me all week to listen through to the end of this, but i’m glad i did!

greer, that prefab spout song was gorgeous.

zb–i had a feeling that was where you were . . . in dreamland!

Four words: fuck me, it’s Kingmaker!
