This looks great…. Will download and listen tomorrow, but the fact that I’m snuggling up to Marcy and Nat on either side means I’m already having more fun this week than I’ve had in years!!

LOL! There’s nothing really embarassing on here. I can’t wait to hear the whole thing. I’m up to Dirk’s cool contribution. So far, Tart, Marcy, and me have displayed anxiety…

Oh… this was by FAR the most embarrassing contribution I’ve done and that’s saying something considering that my debut was on the topic of mindless self indulgence, haha!

and Tim, I’m sorry to have screwed it up again, but the track is called “heretic” and the album is “above the below” xoxo

Tart….do not hang thy head in shame. I thought it was a wonderful intro…it almost tempted me into sending you a photo of me wearing a kilt at a wedding last weekend!

Random thought on the show this week? All the intros were brilliant, but there has to be a special thanks to Dirk, Kevin and Tim for involving the family in all the fun - I hope Little Loser was OK after his tumble - but some of the songs left me bewildered and bemused.

But then again with no real theme to CP 182 then that’s how it should be.

I did love that cover of Fulsom Prison Blues mind you….

PS to Fil. The Devil does have all the best tunes.

Tart - I’ve fixed that .. my bad!

JC - Thanks .. the boy and I had a lot of fun making that intro .. as I’m sure you heard. :)

It added authenticity to the shuffle that Bob submitted the 10 minute Krallice song which I really liked. (I rather liked the song, too, actually!)

This was a great episode! I loved all the songs and I loved all the different methods people tried. I especially liked Kev’s method :)

Tim! So funny hearing the baby during your intro! What a fun dad you are for letting him pick your song. Burial follows Jacques Brel–that IS random.

Tart, I loved your giggles.

Can’t get over how nervous everybody sounds and, oh my, Tart’s gushing was something else. Currently enjoying Krallice more than Bob’s intro suggested I would. So pleased to have decided to jump 6 tracks rather than 3!

JC do as your conscience leads you (and your wife allows) hehe. And why is it that your and Adam’s music, even on random, is perfect?

I’ve got three playlists on my phone: gooood, new, and punk bitches. Since “gooood” is 75% Scottish men the chances were pretty high but I wouldn’t call that stacking the deck. :)

PUNK BITCHES?!?: May I have a CD for Christmas, darling??

And, Tart: your intro was especially cool, I thought … whatever you drank/smoked/ate before recording it: please send something of it along with the CD, will you?

I just started to listen to the Beck - track in the car this morning, great stuff so far!! I’m sure the rest will be equally brilliant!!

A confession and a question - what actually came up first time was Elvis Costello being interviewed about ‘Man Out Of Time’ - I decided I should really play a song - was I wrong? I’m looking forward to listening to this on the way home tonight.

Adam: Using the system all of this year, I have ignored tracks that do not feature music. The only reason I included the Flight of the Conchords back in 1974 track I did was because that part had a song as its central focus. My personal take on it has been that this is okay, because I tend to do quite enough talking myself without adding to it.

I think you’re right Adam…….

Wow. My comment was a jumble. Right words, wrong order. Not sure quite how I pulled that one off.

Dirk, darling, of course :) That playlist gets me through Cubs games traffic. Nothing like Bikini Kill to blast the typical American baseball loving family out of the crosswalk!

And I’m sorry to say, that silliness was pure lust, no dope/drink/drug … men and music are the only things that get me high these days, xoxo …. (and the occasional woman, hehe)

Thanks for the pics, JC! *swoon* xx

Shaun, I’m totally with you on that Krallice. Why did I ever stop listening to Black Metal (as much as I used to)? That track was heaven!!!

I have to say, I tried, tried, tried to like that Krallice cut. I made it to 1:11:53, which is pretty good for old lady ears.

What fun!

I just wish there HAD been some “embarrassing”, “inappropriate” or incriminating tracks. Oh well.

Very pleased that some folks broke from the shackles of iTunes to find their random - - and Tim, your intro was freaking adorable, complete with harp glissando!

- - and DIRK: So happy to hear ‘Solitary Confinement’! An old favorite, but I’m so very intrigued by the version on your 12″ being different than the recording I’m accustomed to. What’s the story? Or is there one? Or do I need to get my Google on and find out for myself?

Dear In Crowd,

well, the story is rather simple: the version that you know is the one off the ‘Chelsea Nightclub’ - album, a bit different to the one I played (which is on the B-Side of the ‘Offshore Banking Business’ - 12″). I must admit I don’t owe the 7″ from 1978, therefore I don’t know which version it contains. I’m willing to have a small bet though that it is the same as on the album.

Thanks Dirk!

Simple stories are often the best ones.

I’d also bet that the 7″ contains the album version, so I guess you won’t make any money off of me…

On the Captain Oi reissue there are three versions - the LP version, Offshore Banking Business version and the stiff single version!

Dang me. The plot thickens.

John - Sounds like perhaps Dirk and I have lost the small wager.

hmmm … the 7″ - version is up on youtube.com … I’ll watch this as soon as i get home from work today. as it seems i never heard it up until now.

thanks, john, for letting us know that there are three versions!
