Ok, that was one of my favorite introductions to an episode ever!

Second, I was completely born when that song was written. As long as the song wasn’t written more than a year before the album was recorded…

This episode was enlightening (so many Jameses!) and as diverse as we all are!

Just finished listening - tremendous work, all! Should we do nicknames next?! Really enjoyed doing the intro, apologies for the repetitive “and” in between all the names – I fleetingly pondered recording a variety of “and”s, including a Sinatra NY NY-style “aaaaaa-aaaaa-aaaaa-aaaaaand”, but I couldn’t face the time it would take! Anyway, I’m chuffed to bits all!

Fantastic intro!!! Can’t wait to hear about all of the names!

Marcy, it occured to me this morning when listening to the final part of this week’s edition and to the wonderful way you pronounce your name in your funny American accent (”Maahssie”), that you could well have also chosen a tune by … Morrissey!!

Wow! So much to love in this episode. Certainly the diversity, especially in the home stretch.

Stuart, your show intro was great fun, and I think the repetitive ‘and’ worked to great effect. Almost like the sound of all our names being pumped out of a bellows, or something.

Chris, laughed out loud at your bait & switch regarding Li’l Chris, and LOVED the Art Blakey.

Similarly Dirk, I was struck by your statement “…Not everything we do here musically is automatically crap”. High praise indeed!

- - and Jeremy, a perfect comment on the ‘emo’ phenomenon.

Very special to hear contributors share their personal stories. With that in mind and with thanks to TIm for his selection, I feel compelled to share this old photo:

Oh - - and if anyone noticed or cared or was confused by the lyric in my ‘Genial Hawaiians’ contribution;

the NRA referred to isn’t the National Rifle Association, but rather the National Recovery Administration, one of Franklin Roosevelt’s ‘New Deal’ agencies during America’s Great Depression. Created in 1933, declared unconstitutional in 1935, their symbol was a big blue eagle.

So there. Please excuse the footnote…

dirk–i tried really hard to hear myself say marcy like morrissey–i think i could hear it!

stuart, this was a wonderful episode and i loved your intro too. very well done!

kevin–great cover of that song.

greer–that was such a nice intro, and especially the way james’ followed yours. just lovely.

tim–i actually really liked that tiny tim song.

nat–that is a great story, whichever part is true!

eiron–i really dug your song, very cool. i’ve heard much too much led zeppelin in my day, but that was interesting.

bravo, everybody!

James, I have that Tinted Windows cd, and it was a fun summer album!

Marcy, I love that song, but it’s tough to “enjoy.” LOL. Isn’t the bloody mother fucking asshole her dad? I wonder how their Thanksgiving went. ;)

Loved all of your intros, and In Crowd, I laughed at yours. What, you think we notice things like long intros?????

nat–you’re right, it is about her dad. i don’t think they had a very good relationship when she was young! it’s funny, too because i heard him interviewed on fresh air and he sounds like such a nice guy, only when you know about that song you have a slightly different perspective on him!

I saw him a few years back, and he had nothing but glowing things to say about his kids and their careers, but he didn’t dwell on it. But, yeah, the song makes you see him in a different light.

Stuart, what an ace intro. Fantastic!! I loved your song, too.

The In Crowd, I was dying to know your name. I like all three of them. You crack me up. What a sweet song that you played. When I was in HS my father would place a cup of coffee at my bedside to wake me up as he was leaving for work. Best memory!!

FiL, hilarious.

Micky, loved the Deacon Blue. I need to look more into that.

Tocotronic..so good, Dirk.

And Marcy aka Martha. Too cool for the school.

Thanks, Tricia!

What a great memory of your Dad.

And you got to connect with Patti Smith! How cool is that?
